Abdul Karim: Restaurants not the source of Covid-19

KUCHING, Nov 5: Restaurants and eateries are not the source of the Covid-19 spread.

This is the view of Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah when he said restaurants and eateries cannot be closed down.

“I don’t mind the pubs and entertainment centres be closed down, but not the eatery places.

“I don’t think restaurants and eatery places are the source of this Covid-19 (spread),” he said when addressing the launching ceremony of PANDei ePelancongan Course at Imperial Hotel today.

Abdul Karim said during the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) meeting yesterday, he fought for restaurant and eateries to remain open for their owners could not afford another close down.

“It was suggested in yesterday’s meeting to close down all eateries and entertainment centres for the next two weeks due to the recent spike in Covid-19 cases.

“As a member of the committee, I was however against the suggestion,” he said. – DayakDaily
