Practise business excellence to stay competitive, urges Awang Tengah
KUCHING (9 December 2017): All organisations and government departments in the state should instil a culture of ‘business excellence’ among their members in order to not only stay competitive in whatever they do but meet the expectations of the people they serve.
According to Deputy Chief Minister, Minister of Industrial and Entrepreneur Development and Second Minister of Urban Development and Natural Resources Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, an organisation would be able to do better in service delivery if it is serious in its commitment to adopt business excellence.
“We are hoping that with a business excellence culture, more organisations in the state will become excellent organisations. We are also hoping that they will not only become the best in the country, but also the world,” he said at the closing ceremony of a CEO Talk Programme held at a hotel here yesterday.

He also commented that all organisations in the state should adopt the ‘business excellence’ programme by bench marking best practices and participating in related programmes.
Awang Tengah praised the country for adopting the Malaysia Business Excellence Framework (MBEF), one of the holistic approaches to create more excellent organisations in the country.
“MBEF is on par with the other International Business Excellence Frameworks being monitored by the Global Excellence Model Council (GEM) Malaysia, through the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC), a member of GEM,” he noted.
Awang Tengah also mentioned that MBEF has pioneered seven dimensions of excellence namely leadership, planning, information, customer, people, process and result.
Meanwhile during the same event he urged all organisations in Sarawak to take advantage of the capacity development programmes to be organised by MPC Sarawak Regional Office next year.
The CEO Talk Programme was jointly hosted by MPC Sarawak Regional Office and Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (Pusaka) to empower the capabilities of organisations in the state.
Present at the event were Pusaka deputy chairman Hashim Bojet and MPC Sarawak Regional Office director Tengku Azmi Tengku Majid.
