“Sarawak CMIEA aims to honour and give recongnition to outstanding businesses in Sarawak as well as to promote a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation,” he said at a press conference here today.

Abang Abdul Karim said Sarawak CMIEA, introduced by SBF in collaboration with the Malaysia Productivity Corp(MPC), was supported by the Sarawak government.

“It’s the highest state corporate recognition award adopted from the national level Industry Excellence Awards.

“The companies are evaluated using the international-recognised Business Excellence Framework as the benchmark,” he said.

He said the inaugural Sarawak CMIEA attracted an overwhelming response, adding that both SBF and MPC hoped to encourage businesses and industries in the state to move forward through adoption of best business practices and to be role models and aspirations for others.

“Sarawak CMIEA hopes to spearhead initiatives geared towards improving business processes and practices for the overall economic development of Sarawak,” he said.

He said the overall winner and winners of every category will represent the state at the national-level competition.
