The Sarawak Esports Expo that was supposed to be held from 7th to 9th December 2018 has been postponed due to the unavailability of CityOne Megamall. 3 members from the organizer, Sarawak Esports Association (SESA) and 1 member of one of the strategic partners, VR38 were at the same vicinity during the accident that claimed 3 lives and left many injured.
In view of the accident, the organizer felt that it was best to postpone the event instead of an immediate relocation.
Although the Expo itself was postponed, mobile gaming section of the event, Mobile Legends Grand Finals of the Kenyalang Esports Tournament continued to be held at the community event hub, 11Ridgeway located at Jalan Ong Tiang Swee,as squads from Mukah, Sri Aman, Sarikei, Bintulu, Miri as well as neighbouring country Brunei has already booked their flights and accomodation to attend the event. Top teams from 8 qualifying series held since April this year came together to compete for the Legendary title.
SESA had contributed RM3,000 towards Kenyalang Esports as prize money for the winning team.
Speakers of the Esports Forum, Mr Allan Phang, Head of AirAsia Esports, Mr Mohd Farouq, Esports Emcee and commentator together with Mr Wong Kay Vin, Organizer of the biggest gamers gathering ServerDNA still flew to Kuching,Sarawak despite the event postponement.
A lunch gathering was hosted by SESA together with the invited speakers for a meaningful session of discussion and exchange of ideas on Esports development in Sarawak.
